200 g box: the size to try it

The 200 g (7.05 oz) size is a simple, everyday box — the one to reach for when you want to find out whether you like this cocoa before committing to a bigger size. It is the same award-winning Trinitario cocoa as the gift boxes: smooth, complex flavor with gentle floral and fruity notes rather than the flat, sharp bitterness of typical grocery-store cocoa, from a producer that has won two Bronze medals at the Academy of Chocolate (2018) and a Silver at the Hot Chocolate Awards at Chocoa (2019). Enough to test it in the recipes you already make, such as a hot chocolate recipe with cocoa powder or a batch of brownies.
- Packaging: plain box, no gift dressing — built for everyday use, not for giving
- Good for: a first purchase or a sample to try the flavor, occasional baking, comparing this Vietnamese Trinitario cocoa against what is already in your pantry
- Consider a larger size if: you already know you like it and make cocoa drinks every day, or you are buying it as a gift (see the 250 g box below)

250 g luxury gift box: the size to give

The 250 g (8.82 oz) size is built to be given, not just used. The box itself is part of the gift: a rigid, textured box printed with a fine brushed-silk pattern, not the plain carton the 200 g comes in — it looks and feels like a present before it is even opened. Inside is the same single-origin Vietnamese Trinitario cocoa, with the same two Academy of Chocolate Bronze medals (2018, awarded in the plain hot chocolate categories, made with milk and with water) and a Chocoa Hot Chocolate Silver (2019). That makes it a natural gift for someone who bakes or loves hot chocolate, and it pairs well with a recipe card for Vietnamese salted cocoa; our guide to the best cocoa powder for hot chocolate explains what to look for in a plain cup.
- Packaging: rigid luxury gift box, brushed-silk textured print finish, magnetic or fold-over closure — a premium unboxing, not a plain carton
- Good for: holidays, hosts, coworkers, anyone who enjoys a real cup of cocoa and appreciates presentation
- Consider another size if: you are buying for yourself and just want to try it (200 g) or use it daily (500 g)

500 g luxury gift box: the size for everyday use

The 500 g (17.64 oz) size shares the same rigid, textured luxury box as the 250 g — just with more cocoa inside — so it still looks like a gift, but it is really built for a household that goes through cocoa regularly: daily hot chocolate, weekly baking, recipes that use baking soda, where a natural cocoa is the right choice. It is the same award-winning, single-origin Vietnamese Trinitario cocoa as the other two sizes, just at a better cost per cup. If you are choosing cocoa mainly for baking, read best cocoa powder for baking first.
- Packaging: rigid luxury gift box, brushed-silk textured print finish (same box style as the 250 g, larger size)
- Good for: daily hot chocolate, regular baking, sharing within a household
- Not a wholesale format: for café, bakery or bulk quantities, contact us first

What exactly is in the bag or box?
Every size is labeled Grevista Premium Cocoa Powder. Here is what that premium cocoa powder is, and is not:
| Ingredients | Cocoa powder. One ingredient, nothing added. |
|---|---|
| Sweetened? | No. Unsweetened. |
| Processing | Non-alkalized (natural process). The beans are fermented, roasted and milled; the powder is not treated with an alkalizing agent. |
| Growing and processing | Grown and cared for in a naturally sustainable way, and made with a minimal roasting and grinding process that keeps the bean’s natural qualities. |
| Cacao variety | Trinitario, as declared by the producer. Beans are 100% from Vietnam, not blended with other origins. |
| Origin | Vietnam (single origin) |
| Producer | VNCACAO CO., LTD (Tbros label), Vietnam |
| U.S. distributor | Grevista |
| Heavy metals | Low measured heavy metals: in a VietLabs test report (ISO/IEC 17025) issued October 23, 2026, arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury were not detected; cadmium was below 0.015 mg/kg, under 3% of the EU maximum level of 0.60 mg/kg for cocoa powder sold to consumers. See the published lab results. |
| Keto | Keto-friendly: unsweetened, 2 g net carbs per tablespoon on the printed Nutrition Facts label (3 g total carbohydrate minus 1 g fiber). |
| Vegan | Plant-based single ingredient (100% cocoa, no dairy) — vegan-friendly. |
| Flavor profile | Smooth, complex chocolate flavor with gentle floral and fruity notes and a natural sweetness, milder and less flat-bitter than typical Dutch-processed grocery cocoa. See what it tastes like. |

What does it taste like?
Natural, non-alkalized cocoa tastes noticeably different from the Dutch-processed cocoa most grocery-store baking cocoa uses. Rather than a flat, sharply bitter chocolate note, tasters describe this cocoa as smooth and complex: gentle floral and fruity undertones, a natural sweetness even with nothing added, and a clean, lingering finish. It is still a real cocoa flavor — deep and rich, not mild — so it also works well in savory recipes that use a little cocoa for depth, not just dessert.
Customers who have baked with it or made hot chocolate report a richer, more rounded flavor than the cocoa powder they are used to, smooth mixing with no lumps, and an aroma that comes through as soon as the bag or box is opened. Some also note that, being 100% cocoa with nothing added, it dissolves best when whisked or frothed into hot liquid rather than stirred cold.
What does “non-alkalized” mean for you in the kitchen?
Natural cocoa is acidic. In baking, that acidity reacts with baking soda to help cakes and brownies rise; Dutch-processed cocoa has been neutralized, so recipes built on it usually rely on baking powder instead. As a practical rule from Iowa State University Extension: if a recipe uses baking soda and no other acidic ingredient, use natural cocoa; if it uses only baking powder, use Dutch-processed. Natural cocoa also tastes sharper and more intensely chocolatey than Dutch-process, and it is lighter, more reddish-brown in color. The full comparison is in natural vs Dutch-process cocoa powder.
What has been tested, and what has it won?
- Low measured heavy metals: cadmium not detected (below 0.015 mg/kg, October 2026 report), under 3% of the EU maximum of 0.60 mg/kg for cocoa powder sold to consumers
- Arsenic, lead, mercury not detected in the same report; aflatoxins not detected at 0.45 µg/kg (April 2022 report)
- 2 × Bronze, Academy of Chocolate Awards 2018 (Hot Chocolate – Plain, for Milk; Plain, for Water) for the producer’s Tbros cocoa powder, and Silver, Hot Chocolate Awards at Chocoa 2019 to the producer
“Not detected” means below the lab’s quantification limit (LOQ), not zero. Our latest heavy metal report for this cocoa powder comes from VietLabs (October 2026); the awards belong to the producer, VNCACAO CO., LTD (Tbros). You can read every report in full, with reference numbers, and verify the medals on the Lab Results & Awards page. Wondering whether any cocoa can be heavy metal free? Who is this cocoa for, and who should choose something else?
| A good fit if you want… | Choose something else if you need… |
|---|---|
| A one-ingredient, unsweetened cocoa, so you choose the sweetness (it works for keto and vegan recipes) | A ready-sweetened hot cocoa mix you can stir straight into milk (or make your own hot cocoa mix) |
| Natural cocoa for recipes that use baking soda | Dutch-processed cocoa for a recipe that relies only on baking powder, or a very dark color |
| A gift-ready box (250 g or 500 g) | Wholesale or bulk quantities |

Frequently asked questions
Is the powder the same in all three sizes?
Yes. The 200 g box and the 250 g and 500 g gift boxes contain the same unsweetened, non-alkalized Trinitario cocoa powder from the same producer. Only the quantity and packaging differ.
Is it Dutch-processed?
No. It is non-alkalized cocoa (natural process), which is acidic and works with baking soda.
Is this Vietnamese cocoa powder single-origin?
Yes. It is a Vietnam cocoa powder made only from cacao grown in Vietnam, not blended with beans from other countries. The producer declares the variety as Trinitario. To learn how cocoa from Vietnam differs from other origins, read our guide to Vietnamese cocoa.
Is it cocoa or cacao powder?
Both words are used for the same kind of product; in U.S. regulations the standardized name is “cocoa”. The more useful questions are whether it is sweetened, whether it is alkalized and how it was processed. Our guide to cacao vs cocoa explains the difference in labeling.
Is it sweetened?
No. It is unsweetened; the only ingredient is cocoa powder. Check the Nutrition Facts panel on the package for sugar and other values.
Is Grevista cocoa powder keto-friendly?
Yes. As a keto cocoa powder it is unsweetened, with 2 g net carbs per tablespoon on the printed Nutrition Facts label (3 g total carbohydrate minus 1 g fiber, per 6 g tablespoon). See the full breakdown, including USDA reference values, in cocoa powder nutrition facts. How much cocoa fits your diet is your call; we make no weight-loss claims.
Is it vegan?
It is a plant-based single ingredient (100% cocoa, no dairy) — vegan-friendly. That makes it a simple vegan cocoa powder for baking and drinks, as long as you choose plant-based milk and sweeteners. If you avoid cross-contact with other foods, check the allergen statement on the package.
Where do I buy it, and how do returns work?
On Amazon. Payment, delivery, tracking, returns and refunds are handled through your Amazon account under Amazon’s policies. For questions about the cocoa itself, contact us.
Who makes it?
VNCACAO CO., LTD, a producer in Vietnam, under its Tbros label. Grevista sources and distributes it in the United States. Read more about Grevista.
